Stone Mountain Police Officer Suffers Career Ending Wrist Injury on 285

A Stone Mountain police officer and resident of Decatur suffered a career-ending wrist injury on Interstate 285.  The personal injury occured when she was side-swiped by another driver while traveling east-bound near Dunwoody Road.  The force of the impact forced her into another car.  As she twisted her wheel to avoid losing control her wrist got caught in the steering wheel.  The force of the torque caused her to tear ligaments in her right wrist. 

Unfortunately her right hand was her shooting hand.  Whenever she tried firing her service weapon the recoil from the pistol caused shooting pains in her wrist.  As a result her orthopedic surgeon assigned an 80% disability rating to her right wrist.  The combination of the pain and disability rating ended her career.
